USD Band Directors Institute Emergency Repair Presentation

A visit from Dr. Luis Viquez from USD

It's always a great day when we get a visit from our friend, Dr. Luis Viquez. Dr. Viquez is Professor of Clarinet and Director of Orchestras at the University of South Dakota (USD) He's one of the most interesting and personable people I've ever met, and we're so glad he's in Siouxland.

It’s days like today that we’re reminded of what a wonderful community Sioux City is! Yesterday we noticed a that a Bach Strad Professional Trumpet priced at $2,899. was missing from our show floor…Upon further investigation, we realized the instrument had been stolen and was listed on Facebook for sale! Less than 3 hours later, Sgt. Bill Melville assembled a team and the amazing Sioux City Police Department set-up a sting, recovered the stolen trumpet and arrested the thief!

New Product - Key Leaves!

We're always on the lookout for innovative products. One little nugget we found this year at NAMM 2018 was Key Leaves. Since about 7th grade, I've always been frustrated when my saxophone G# key sticks.

What a Blizzard!

A few of us are heading to the yearly NAMM show this week in Anaheim. Originally NAMM was the acronym for National Association of Music Merchants. The association is now called The International Music Products Association, but the original acronym stuck, and the trade show is still referred to as NAMM.

New Horizons Band at Ray's Midbell

Today was a neat day for our Learning Center’s New Horizon’s Band. Their holiday party was postponed because of the cold, so they had a mini-party today celebrating the New Year before rehearsal.
