Vandoren V12 reeds are made from cane tubes the same diameter as the cane used for alto saxophone reeds. This gives the reeds a thicker heel and a longer palette with a slightly thicker tip compared to Vandoren Traditional reeds. A longer palette means that more of the reed is vibrating, producing a deeper and richer sound. The thicker tip gives more body to the attack and also increases the longevity of the reed.
