The remarkable tone of the MT 15 V2 builds upon the acclaimed PRS Archon circuit, boasting five gain stages before the Master Volume for an incredibly rich and saturated distortion. This new version also introduces an enhanced Lead channel, providing even more tonal flexibility. Whether you're laying down heavy riffs or crafting soaring solos, the MT 15 V2 maintains exceptional note clarity and a massive, tight low end.
The construction of the MT 15 V2 is designed for road-worthiness and portability, featuring a robust black metal chassis for durability. This updated model also showcases thoughtful aesthetic improvements, including a redesigned front grille plate, a comfortable leatherette handle, and updated LED colors (blue for clean, amber for overdrive, red for lead) to match the larger MT 100. The heart of the amplifier's distinctive sound lies in its carefully selected tubes. The power section is driven by two TAD 6L6GCM-STR tubes (or sometimes 5881s), contributing to the amp's bold and authoritative low end, delivering a substantial output that belies its 15-watt rating. For the preamp section, six 12AX7 / ECC83 tubes lay the foundation for its diverse tonal characteristics, from crystalline cleans to harmonically saturated overdrive. A significant upgrade in the V2 is the addition of a push/pull Overdrive control on the Lead channel's Treble knob, which bypasses two gain stages for a more vintage, crunchier "mid-gain" sound. The clean channel retains its convenient push/pull Boost, adding a touch of old-school grit when desired.
